The top seafood restaurants in and around Manhattan

Seafood plate

When you live close to the beach, one of the perks you get is the abundance of seafood restaurants that serve the freshest bounties of the sea. Manhattan Beach and its neighbor, Redondo Beach, are two communities where you’ll find some of the best seafood in Southern California.

Here are a few places you simply have to try:

Fishing with Dynamite

1148 Manhattan Avenue
Manhattan Beach
(310) 893-6299

Named Best Oyster Bar by Los Angeles Magazine, Fishing with Dynamite is a cozy upscale restaurant that serves seafood in the most creative ways. Chef David LeFevre’s dishes are inspired by the food he loved growing up on the Eastern Shore of Virginia and living in Southern California’s beach communities. The raw bar features the finest oysters on the half shell, Littleneck clams, and Peruvian scallops. Other must-tries on the menu include the crab cake and the Hamachi sashimi.

3801 Highland Avenue
Manhattan Beach
(310) 796-0200

Calling themselves “fanatical about freshness,” Fishbar features fish flown in fresh daily from different parts of the world. Not a single fish spends more than 24 hours in the restaurant – everything comes in and out on the same day. Fishbar offers their own take on the most popular seafood dishes in the world, such as mussels marinara, lobster mac n’ cheese, fish and chips, and more. The casual vibe is perfect for its location close to the El Porto surfing spots.

Rock n’ Fish

120 Manhattan Beach Boulevard
Manhattan Beach
(310) 379-9900

Designed with the utmost comfort of customers in mind, Rock n’ Fish is a great spot to unwind after a day of activities at Manhattan Beach Pier. The ambiance is casual and comfortable, and the food is the restaurant’s own version of classic cuisines from various American regions. The Seafood Jambalaya and the wild swordfish are popular menu items. Try their excellent non-seafood dishes, as well, such as the Kapalua Rib-Eye and the Blue Cheese Wedge salad.

Sea Level at Shade

655 N. Harbor Drive
Redondo Beach
(310) 921-8940

Offering refreshing views of the King Harbor Marina, Sea Level at Shade is a great choice for a romantic dinner or an intimate celebration. The menu features inventive coastal-inspired main dishes, such as blackened salmon, tamarind glazed barramundi, and lobster mac & cheese. Meat and vegetable dishes are also served.

Bluewater Grill

665 N. Harbor Drive
Redondo Beach
(310) 318-3474

Voted “Best Seafood of the South Bay,” Bluewater Grill takes seafood dining to a whole new level of excellence. Its location in King Harbor with boats and yachts docked on the side makes the dining experience here truly nautical. The food makes use of the freshest ingredients, including the restaurant’s daily supply of oysters and Maine lobster. Not to be missed are the raw bar, the seared red snapper, and the swordfish.

500 Fisherman’s Wharf
Redondo Beach
(310) 318-6080

With its location on the Redondo Beach pier, Kincaid’s is the perfect place for an unforgettable waterfront dining experience. Opened in 1986, Kincaid’s is now considered a classic beachside restaurant and a must-try for visitors in the area. The food on the menu is just as timeless – there’s clam chowder, Dungeness crabs, jumbo prawns, and other all-time coastal favorites.
